Mentoring

Become a Mentor

Oklahoma Lawyers for Children serves foster youth with excellent pro bono legal representation. Outside the courtroom, OLFC supports our teenage clients through mentoring.

Our mentoring program connects caring adults with teenagers ages fourteen to eighteen in foster care. Children in this age group have the highest likelihood of aging out of the foster care system without the necessary skills for thriving in adulthood independently. Rather than focusing on fellowship and relationship-building alone, our program is geared toward teaching practical life skills related to personal finance, health, career development, education, and other areas.

Time commitment: We expect mentors to meet with their mentees over at least one year for around eight hours per month or more. OLFC also facilitates group events a few times per year. Time commitment varies depending on the teenager's needs. Mentors must undergo a background check.

If you would like to serve as a mentor or have any questions, please contact Brooke Bradley, Volunteer Coordinator, at bbradley@olfc.org or (405) 232-4453 ext. 111.

Become a Mentoring Partner

Mentoring Partners support this program through a financial or in-kind gift of at least $100. These contributions help us to provide group events, food, transportation, curriculum, and other special experiences for mentees.

We appreciate any in-kind assistance related to teaching life skills – for instance, a grocery store gift card for groceries/nutrition, a stack of SAT study books, flash drives, et cetera. Monetary gifts help too!

Partners will be recognized on the OLFC website/social media and will be invited to a special group event with the mentees.

If you would like to become a Mentoring Partner, please contact our Assistant Director of Development, Chelsea Abney at cabney@olfc.org or (405) 232-4453 ext. 110.
